Judge Abdul-Wahab Qatran sent an open letter to the head of the Sanaa Police Intelligence Authority, General Ali Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi, in which he called for the immediate release of the forcibly disappeared persons and prisoners of conscience, led by his brother Sheikh Arif Qatran and his son Abdul Salam, who have been detained in the authority’s prison for about two months, according to what is stated in the letter he published on his Facebook account.

In his letter, Qatran stressed that continued detention without charge or legal process represents “an injustice that is not in accordance with the values of justice, wisdom, religion and custom,” stressing that the release of detainees held without legal justification is “a demonstration of the strength, self-confidence and capacity of the state to deal with the legacy of war.”

Judge Qatran called for the closure of the enforced disappearances case and the arrest of opinion makers, saying this “is in the public interest and a necessary step to build a state capable of establishing justice.”

He concluded his message by saying: “O God, bear witness that I have delivered the message. »

Open letter to Ali Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi: power disappears… but justice remains

In the name of God the most merciful, the most merciful

The honorable brother/Ali Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi
May the peace, blessings and mercy of God be upon you,

I write to you today not as an opponent, but as someone who believes that wisdom is the lost property of the believer and that God Almighty sets things right through his unstoppable power.

I have seen in your career that indicates an understanding of the ropes of politics and experience in the ways of power.
But I remind myself, and you, that the most powerful weapon is the truth.
The biggest thing is chivalry.
The truest minds are those who see consequences before falling into dilemmas.

I have a generous brother and his son is a young man.
They are: Sheikh Arif Qatran and his young son, Abdul Salam.
They have been forcibly detained – without guilt or trial – in the Police Intelligence Authority prison in Sanaa for almost two months.

This situation – as you know – is by no means fair.
It is also not wise,
Neither religion nor custom.

I tell you frankly, confident in his argument:
These fates, which the devices create with their own hands, will inevitably be held responsible one day.
Every unjust imprisonment, every forced disappearance,
It is an illusion of excess of power.
His scar will remain in the conscience of the nation and in the memory of history.

Today you are in a position where you can straighten the curves, lift the darkness and cover the nakedness.
Freeing those who were forcibly disappeared – including my brother and his son – is not weakness.
Rather, it is a demonstration of strength and self-confidence.
Become aware of the sense of responsibility,
This is proof that you are more capable of overcoming the legacy of war and building a state of justice and wisdom.

I demand – not only from the point of view of fraternity –
Rather, from the perspective of public interest, justice, fairness and humanity,
By immediately releasing all forcibly disappeared people and prisoners of conscience, and closing this painful humanitarian case.

Oh my God, I testify that I have achieved it.

They receive the greatest respect,

Judge Abdel Wahab Qatran
